The offense has been moving the ball great all season, but have had trouble scoring (especially through the air) and protecting Tebow recently. This could be the week that they get back to form, and show everyone why they really are the best team in the nation. There are a few reasons I believe this:
1. The problems in the redzone have been partially bad excution and partially bad play calling. The coaches now realize that it was bad play calling and should definitely fix that this weekend. As for execution, there is no bigger game (regular season) for the players, than the GA-FL game. They will be at there best for this one.
2. The problems with not moving the ball through the air and Tebow getting sacked constantly are one in the same; the O-Line. Yes, Tebow occasionaly holds the ball to long, but some of that can be attributed to looking at whats going on right next to him, instead of down field, which he wouldn't be doing if he trusted his Line. This week there was discussion of making changes on the O-line. That means the coaches realize there is an issue, and should put a flame under the seats of the players (also, its GA-FL).
3. Its GA-FL
4. Spikes should be good to go, and with this being his and Tebow's last round in Jacksonville, they are going to have this entire team seriously fired up.
5. The coaches are starting to see how vanilla the offense has been most of the year, and are going to do something about it. Expect to see more Tebow under center, and hopefully a better selection of option plays.
6. Did I mention that its GA-FL?

I wonder how much of the "vanilla" offense has been by "design" - i.e. has our coaching staff felt we could win these games with basic packages and hold off on showing some ultimate sets and variations from those sets? I doubt and hope not, but I have been very taken back by the simplistic and rather predictable play calling we've seen almost exclusively. and I'm no offensive genious.
If they take care of the ball this week, they might even be ready to breakout a bit...I'm expecting to see maybe 38 offensive points from the Gators and Tim opening up his passing somewhat.
I liked your observations and thoughts about the O-line. I metioned this a couple of times lately to some local Gator fans, but perhaps not serious studies of the action since they responded with, "I thought we had a good line". LOL, maybe we do, on paper or in theory, but the breakdowns have been too commonplace for the talent they have up front.
I am excited to see Spikes back, but trust the staff to be sure he's absolutely ready as any further damage to the groin could keep him out through November. I hope we pressure Cox and get him out of rythym early and often, maybe resulting in a pick-fest.
